As a way to say thank you, I'll be giving away 10 A3 (print size on A3 sheet is 27X29cm) art prints of this lovely kererū drawing by my daughter Caitlin Thomas-Riley. Winners will be drawn on Tuesday, 5 October from those that have pre-ordered a calendar.
Caitlin is just finishing her third year as a computer science/computer graphics student at Victoria University. She has gained As in illustration and will next year be undertaking her Masters.
If you would like to pre-order a calendar, they are $28 each (for a large A3-size), payable when the calendars are ready to be picked up from Woburn, Lower Hutt (possibly the end of this month/early October, but may be delayed at the printers because of lockdown). They make a great Christmas present for a nature lover. DM me or email louise@louisethomas.co.nz if you would like more details.
To is a preposition with several meanings, including “toward” and “until.”
Too is an adverb that can mean “excessively” or “also.”
Two is also pronounced the same as to and too, but it can’t be used instead of either of them because it’s a number.

To create safer, more caring communities we need to not only look after ourselves but those around us as well.
For the month of September, we want to come together to share ways to boost mental health and well-being. For example, you could host an online catch up or quiz, call a neighbour who lives alone, challenge your family and friends to try a new hobby or move your body more to improve your own well-being. If you or someone you know is going through a rough patch, don’t forget you can call or text 1737 anytime for free support from a trained counsellor.
Want to share your thoughts? Let us know how you’re looking out for your well-being and helping others with theirs this month by tagging us in your social media posts or emailing us your photos, videos, or experiences to: info@neighbourhoodsupport.co.nz

“I wanted to give an update on how “Clarence”—now named Moose— is settling in. He’s such a relaxed cat! He’s become very attached to our 14m old lab/collie mix and they play together really well! We had hoped they would get along, as he had been fostered with a dog, but it’s been great to see them bond so quickly. Moose has also bonded strongly with my partner and I, falling asleep on us while we work and my partner even moves his little bed onto his desk while he’s in meetings working from home. Hope you guys enjoy some photos.”
