We are constantly reviewing the situation and will make changes to the traffic management if we can. Our aim is to get the works done as quickly and safely as possible.
We need to strengthen the Hutt Valley’s wastewater network to minimise the risk of overflows to the environment and mitigate the impacts of a large earthquake.
This project has thrown up multiple challenges and we’ve had to be innovative and pragmatic with how we get things done and manage traffic.
The work at Seaview Road is a priority and we are focused on this, so we can lift traffic restrictions and get everyone back to their normal routines when travelling in the area.
We’ll keep you posted as we progress works.

We're all mostly familiar with Kate Sheppard's role in the women's suffrage movement (and her face on the $10 note) and you've likely heard of the bold, Jean Batten. But who else should not be forgotten? Tell us why!

Let's celebrate Women's History month as well as International Women's Day (this Wednesday) by sharing some of the lesser-known, inspiring women who've played a part in New Zealand's history.

We have an ex freezer container for sale. It is stainless steel from the inside. The walls are 6inches thick. Doesn't work, but water tight and good for storage. Wanted it gone asap. It in on flat property, easy driveway. Need a long boom to uplift as it is at the back of the property. … View moreWe have an ex freezer container for sale. It is stainless steel from the inside. The traffic management in place is intended to ensure the necessary works are done as quickly and safely as possible. We did investigate other options to avoid a one-way system on Seaview Road - but none were suitable or practical given the scope of works and electricity cables in the immediate area.
This current wastewater infrastructure which serves almost the entire Hutt Valley is vulnerable in the event of flooding or a large earthquake, and we just want to get on with renewing it, so the community is not subject to these risks and has a modern and resilient wastewater network.
The reality is we have two major arterial routes converging at the Seaview roundabout at peak times, and unfortunately, slow-moving traffic is unavoidable.
We now have additional signage in place along the route and will keep monitoring the traffic situation closely and make changes where we can.
Our crew is committed to completing the works quickly and safely and we’ll keep you informed as progress is made.
