As anyone who knows me or has followed my media comments and posts over recent times, you will know that I have championed the move to make Shelley Bay come alive again in education, recreation, hospitality etc BUT NOT AS A RESIDENTIAL ZONE... The Enterprise Miramar original vision document which I wrote over a decade ago still stands as a core direction on what should be developed on the Peninsula so I support the move to stop the commercial hijacking by Lester and his developer partners and favour an incoming council under new leadership to resolve the many issues surrounding this area. AND THEN....... everyone know I put up $10,000 for someone to challenge Justin Lester in Wellington's Local Body Elections this year. So was most excited to be at the Launch of a bid to run against the most destructive mayoralty in the region by Councillor ANDY FOSTER. He has 100% of my support! He understands how to work and make Wellington function, is not a slave to political parties control and wants better relationships with neighbouring cities in the region. Something that has deteriorated sadly in recent times. If I am elected onto Hutt City Council he is a leader I and I know others can work with in areas of mutual interest.
So yesterday was special when to areas I have highlighted in my quest to make the whole region better happily collided in one place. Joined by Iwi who I have supported in their quest for fairness and Peter Jackson and other locals, I wish Andy Well, he has a really battle on his hands but now there is a fight and change.

There has been disruption with traffic control and limited accessibility at times, but the community has coped really well with all of this and it’s certainly helped in us getting our work done in good time. The pipe laying is complete, but we will be returning to site in a few months for some minor road surfacing repairs.
We’ve tried our absolute best with this project but know that there will always be things that we can do better next time. If you’ve got any suggestions, please let us know what you think through our quick survey on our website.

Having spent 14 years of my life managing cinemas (including the original Odeon in High Street - then Hoyts) and then as General Manager of Kerridge Odeon's nation wide chain of 65 theatres, I know how dearly the Queensgate Complex was missed since the earthquake. Cinemas will always be part of a city's lifestyle and with a lack of similar venues in Wellington as well this important art form has been a loss. The pop-up cinema was a brilliant idea and as the new structure emerges it adds another destination the Hutt will surely be proud of.
