Hi neighbours! SOS Business was set up to help local businesses in your community. It means you can buy gift cards from your favourite cafés, restaurants and service providers and then redeem them when they re-open after lockdown.

You can play a special part helping small businesses stay afloat during this time. Spread the word to your friends and family so that we can help as many local businesses as we can.

Thanks for being a great neighbour by being a lifeline for businesses in your community.

PS - in case you were wondering, due to the success of SOS Café, and the number of other service businesses now on the Platform, the team have rebranded to SOS Business – Save Our Small Business!

We know some of you are facing threatening and potentially harmful times at home right now. Police will be there for you if you call us.

If you are in immediate danger and can’t call 111, leave your house and get out of harm’s way. Get to a safe distance and then ask a neighbour over a fence, or a passer-by, to call 111 for you. Your safety comes first.

It’s everybody’s responsibility to speak out and keep each other safe right now. If you think something is not ok with a friend, neighbour, or colleague, it’s okay to call Police on their behalf. The person you’re worried about may not be able to speak up for themselves. You could be saving a life.

Easter weekend is almost here, and we know it's going to be very different from what we're used to.

Grace from Hutt City Council

The good news is that Alert Level 4 seems to be working, so it's important that we stick to the rules, even over Easter. That means staying home and local, no visiting the bach or breaking your bubbles.

The good news is that Alert Level 4 seems to be working, so it's important that we stick to the rules, even over Easter. That means staying home and local, no visiting the bach or breaking your bubbles.

Supermarkets and other essential businesses will be closed on Good Friday, but they will be open on Easter Sunday, so there’s no need to panic buy. If you’re heading to the supermarket to get essential supplies, go with a list so you can shop fast. And remember to keep two metres away from others, and wash your hands when you get home.

We can do this Lower Hutt, let's stick together, support each other and get through.

WOW!! What a massive March we had.
Thank you to those who are trapping and reporting all your catches to us. I feel we are still a long way off before we "flatten our curve", but every catch counts.
March's Tally
4 Hedgehogs - 79 Mice - 83 Rats - 1 Stoat.
Total = 167 predators removed from Normandale

Our previous largest tally was August 2019 with
1 Hedgehog - 18 Mice - 83 Rats.
Total = 102

One of the cool things about this, is the increase in bird life we will have over time. More and more reports of Kakariki in Normandale are coming in. Just yesterday I saw one on the Zigzag track below Pekanga Rd. Keep an eye and ear out, and see if you can spot one too.

All the best and stay safe.

How can I help look after others?

Kindness is an incredibly powerful way to show you are united against COVID-19. You can make a huge difference by talking to people over the phone or online:

- Checking in on older relatives or vulnerable people to make sure they have everything they need.

- Talking to friends, whānau and neighbours over the phone to see how they are and if they need support.

These kinds of connections and offers of help will go a long way to getting others through COVID-19.
