Mitchell Park land sale will benefit tennis
The council has revoked the reserve status of the reserve status on a piece of land at Mitchell Park and will use the proceeds from the sale, estimated to be $1.4 million, to upgrades the park’s tennis facilities.
The decision opened the way for the 1436 square metre block of land to be sold to Lower Hutt Health Limited.
The council unanimously agreed to invest the money from the land sale into the tennis facilities.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
