The teachers, who are jointly represented by primary and secondary teachers' unions NZEI Te Riu Roa and PPTA, voted to strike after four days of talks with the Ministry of Education failed to result in an offer. Read more here.

Directed by Eric Sidoti and accompanied by Jennifer Scarlet, this will be a wonderfully entertaining programme of delights from Campion and Billings through to Rossini and Simon and Garfunkle. Reflecting the variety that we want to present, from sea shanties to television music to a New Zealand composition premiere, you will come away with tunes dancing in your head. St James Church in Lower Hutt on Friday 24 May at 7:30 pm or St Barnabas Church in Mana (Porirua) on Sunday 26 May at 2:30 pm. Patrons are invited to pay… View moreMaungaraki Richmond Scouts are raising funds to send 23 Scouts to the NZ Scout Jamboree in December. On Saturday May 25 the Scouts are holding a Karma Keg fundraiser. At the Karma Keg, a 50L keg of craft beer generously donated by Baylands Brewery will be tapped at 3 pm. Patrons are invited to pay what they think is "karmically fair" for a pint -- hopefully at least $10, but a generous contribution to the Scouts will come around with good karma for the donor. At 5:00 pm, all the proceeds from the beer sales will be given to the Scouts toward their Jamboree registration fees.
Please spread the word - tell all your friends, family and work mates, and come to the Queen of Jackson on Saturday 25 May between 3-5 pm to enjoy a great craft beer and donate to a worthy cause.
Cash only – you pay for your beer by putting money in the jar. We will also be running a raffle and silent auctions.

In as new condition, used few times as a bed for visiting granddaughter otherwise used as sofa in computer room. Very comfortable to sit on when used as a sofa or comfortable easy fold out bed. Sofa seats 3-4 folk. Purchased from Harvey Norman in 2015 so virtually new.
