Landlord verbally abused tenant, accused her of sex work
Kia ora neighbours,
An Auckland landlord verbally abused his tenant and accused her of being a sex worker, a tribunal has found.
Landlord James Francis was ordered by the Tenancy Tribunal to pay $1520 to the woman for breaching her quiet enjoyment of the property and failing to have a tenancy agreement in writing.
The woman lived at a rental property in Waimauku in Auckland’s northwest, and Francis had a separate house on the same property.
Francis kept an eye on when the tenant left the house and had CCTV which he used to watch her movements, the tribunal heard.
Have you ever had a nightmare landlord or tenant?
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
