They claim Auckland Council ignored expert advice on the risks for the project to spread kauri dieback disease.
Watercare had applied for resource consent to carry out earthworks and vegetation removal for the upcoming replacement of the Huia Water Treatment Plant.
Titirangi Protection Groupβs (TPG) spokeswoman Belynda Groot said βitβs totally wrongβ for consent to be given after abundant evidence from kauri dieback and ecology experts at the resource consent hearing in April this year advised against the build.

The changes, which come into effect on Monday, follow the completion of a $350 million upgrade of the downtown waterfront.
The new piers has resulted in the renumbering of those at the downtown ferry terminal, Auckland Transport (AT) has advised.
The timing of some services will be altered to accommodate the new piers, and some new services will be added.
