Now more than ever, the fern seems to best capture the spirit of our country. If we look to our Māori roots, we are reminded of the twist or pikorua which resembles two intertwined pikopiko ferns - a fern known for thriving in dark, damp areas of our woods. A reminder that difficult conditions can actually be an opportunity for tremendous growth.
The entanglement of the pikorua also has no beginning or end which is often used to represent an everlasting bond. Although we are all on our own path in life, in the end we always come back together - we are all connected through our interwoven lives.

We know New Zealand’s heavy use of poisons is damaging our environment and putting our flora and fauna, as well as people at risk. We are ready to have a discussion on the positive changes necessary to bring about the shift away from poisons to an ecologically sound approach that takes the whole ecosystem into consideration. We firmly believe that we can change our ways, it will however, take collective effort and positive solutions.
Please join us for this important conference on April 6 & 7 at the beautiful art space and theatre, Lopdell House in Titirangi, Auckland.
We are humbled to be hosting a diverse group of speakers from around the country, including Professor Ian Shaw, Toxicologist from the University of Canterbury and Professor Wayne Linklater from the University of Victoria, who is a researcher of Wildlife Biology & Human Dimensions Ecology. A huge thank you to all our wonderful speakers - this wouldn't be possible without you, we look forward to lively and informative discussion surrounding the problems we are facing and the variety of positive solutions we can embrace.

First up - The amazing Dee Paranihi!
As a loved employee of the Graeme Dingle Foundation, Dee couldn’t pass up the amazing opportunity to explore Vietnam and help kids across Aotearoa at the same time. "We can all learn to believe what we have inside is greater than the things that stand in front of us, but we need to teach our kids this, we are not necessarily born thinking that way."
To find out more about Dee and how you can support her in this worthy cause visit dinglefoundation.org.nz...

We really want to show those Aucklanders that we know how to have a good time in Northland, so we want everyone who has a board to come along and take part in the 4km distance race, which will be on the sheltered safe shallow waters of the Waitangi Inlet. Doesn't matter if you've never raced before, it's just about participating. Go as slow or as fast as you like. There are classes and trophies for every type of board (including home made ones!), there are divisions for every age, from U12 to 70+, there are prizes for best fancy dress, LOADS of spot prizes - just come and be part of it. (And of course, claiming bragging rights for racing in the national championships!). And you can watch the pros in action in the elite distance races, the kids competing in the Northland Secondary Schools SUP Championships (if your kids are at secondary school and they can paddleboard, then find out whether your school is entering a team - if not why not?). It'll be a great day out. Find out all about it at www.supchamps.nz...
