Last year we were only operating at about 60% and I am sure we could do much better. We need more hands to collect and request that you register and ask friends and family to lend a helping hand. Blokes are more than welcome - remember men can contract breast cancer too.
Sig up now at www.pinkribbonvolunteer.co.nz... or if you have any questions phone 0508 105 105 or email pinkribbon@bcf.org.nz or me at susiemcc@xtra.co.nz

Race five on the card will be known as the El Roca Sir Colin Meads Trophy, in honour of the number the great man wore in many of his tests for the All Blacks.
The rugby legend died last week after battling pancreatic cancer.
“Sophie’s Choice’ - a filly Sir Colin part owned with his wife Lady Verna will wear the number five saddle cloth. She will also carry the Cancer Society colours,” says Hawke’s Bay Racing CEO Andrew Castles.
Sir Colin and Lady Verna Meads owned several multiple stakes winners and were part owners of Ruud Awakening - Champion two year old and winner of New Zealand’s richest race - the Karaka Million.
They chose their horses together, loved a day at the races and knew how to celebrate a win.
“Sir Colin was not only a legendary All Black but also an amazing New Zealander. He and Lady Verna became great supporters of racing later in life and it is a privilege to be able to honour him” says Castles.
Now in it’s fourth year the Tarzino Trophy Daffodil Raceday is a fundraiser for the Hawke’s Bay Cancer Society.
There will be loads of free family entertainment in the Hits Family Fun Zone - competitions, prizes, face painting, bouncy castle and pony club dash.
Kids can test their rugby skills with The Magpies and there will be a Gourmet Spring lamb BBQ and live music for Mum and Dad.
“We also have a first class group of stars on show with the likes of Kawi, Volpe Veloce and Gingernuts among the lineup. Tarzino Trophy Daffodil Raceday really does signal the start of Spring racing,” says Castles.
Entry to the course is by donation to the Cancer Society. For more information go to www.daffodilraceday.co.nz....

The 32 syndicate members are converging from around the North Island and donning their finest yellow accessories as they enjoy Tarzino Trophy Daffodil Race Day at the Hastings race course on Saturday.
Syndicate founder Emma-Lee Browne, a Waikato race trainer, said she always looks forward to this time of year and had an itinerary for her group guaranteed to ensure plenty of fun.
"We'll kick the trip off with some wine tasting and lunch at Craggy Range and have booked out the lodges on St George and Cottages on St Andrews for accommodation. Everyone's really excited to get together and enjoy the atmosphere in Hawke's Bay over the carnival."
The syndicate own a race horse, Hattie, who is yet to race.
While their focus is on fun and socialising, there was a seriously positive spin-off to attracting the likes of the Fun and Fascinators to the Bay for big racedays, Hawke's Bay Racing CEO Butch Castles said.
"Of the 30 odd members of this group coming to the races the vast majority are from out of Hawke's Bay. They will stay in motels, visit a winery and no doubt a few restaurants/bars. Not only is their economic footprint positive, but after a great couple of days they will return to their various parts of New Zealand singing the praises of a weekend in the Bay."
Economic impact reports show the racing industry in the Hawke's Bay/Gisborne region is responsible for generating more than $32 million in value added contribution to GDP. Customers spend well over $3.6 million as a result of attending races like Spring Carnival.
Saturday's raceday will be the first where the course is completely smoke-free, a move Castles said enhanced Hawke's Bay Racing's commitment to the ideals of the Cancer Society, which will benefit from fundraising efforts on the day.
* Those attending Saturday's Tarzino Trophy Daffodil Race Day are encouraged to wear something yellow, with all gate donation fees and proceeds from a charity auction supporting Hawke's Bay's Cancer Society.
