Poll: Should we scrap daylight saving?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

This Sunday we'll be putting our clocks back for the end of daylight saving. Despite the benefits of an extra hour of sun during daylight saving, these clock changes commonly bring disruptions to our households and sleep - some feel that it should be scrapped altogether. What do you think?

Huge desks to give away

Julie Neighbourly Lead from Havelock North

If anyone is after some huge corner desks, the hospital has a lot to be disposed of. Most of them are around 1.8m (6’) x 1.8m, and weigh a LOT!

They have been relocated, so time is not such a huge problem, but they still need to be collected form the hospital.

They are in great condition, just dusty, and have been dismantled. There are also shelves available. Please message me on 0277363969 for details of the person to arrange it with. You will need a truck and/or trailer and more than one person.

If you can take them all, for distribution or storage until they can be collected, please do. And yes, you can sell them.

Retail equipment required

Edit - the store is open, the workshop being set up, but we still need a cash drawer, if anyone has one spare. We also need old, working sewing machines and overlockers, for our sewing workroom.

I’m try to reuse as much as possible, rather than get new, as that is the basis of my community business. I’m also trying to keep my setup costs as low as possible.

So if you have upgraded your equipment, or closed your retail business and have equipment to part with, please email me at store@re-new.nz

Also, if anyone needs workshop space, please contact me. I know students and small businesses have been hit hard, losing their workshops in the cyclone, so I am happy to provide space.

Oxygen thief

David from Mahora

Tuesday night witnessed a member of our teenage community on a skate board kicking the recycling bins full of glass all over the place while travelling down Duke Street toward Pakowhai Road. What a waste of space.
