We have said goodbye to overdue fines for our Junior and Young Adult collections! To celebrate the fee removal and waiving of outstanding fees, we are running a month-long 'pay it forward' campaign in partnership with Waikato Women's Refuge - Te Whakaruruhau. A foodbank drive, running from each of our six libraries, will be open for non-perishable donations between now and 1 August. Got any questions? Let us know!

I drove down Normandy Ave today heading into the city and about 100 metres from the shops on the cnr of Ohaupo rd there was a ute with flashing lights and a driver inside. 100 metres further down was a large truck with flashing lights and a driver inside Another 50 metres another large truck with flashing lights and road cones diverting traffic around it. Again another driver sitting inside. All this because some guys had part of a driveway dug up way in by the peoples letterbox. Each of those trucks and drivers are probably getting charged at $100 -$150 an hour. Even at $100 an hour that was probably 30 minutes each way from the depot and a minimum of 60 minutes on site. 6 hours= $600 minimum that was not needed and I see this time and time again around town. Why, why, why?

From hosting a multicultural potluck or film screening to providing prevention information / resources in other languages, there are thousands of ways big and small to make our households, neighbourhoods, schools and businesses even more inclusive. It could even be as simple as learning from a neighbour how to say ‘hello’ in their first language or ensuring local footpaths are clear and accessible.

The recall comes after a packaging blunder led to Beef and Cheese Pies being contained in Beef and Gravy Pies wrapping.
Here's what you need to know:
- Consumers with a milk allergy or intolerance should not consume this product.
- Products affected include those with a best before date marking of August 16 2022.
- The pie's batch marking is 16022 for outer packaging and 16023 for individual pies.
- The product was sold in supermarkets throughout New Zealand.
Individuals with a milk allergy should return the product to their retailer and email sales@pavillionfoods.co.nz or call 021 365 006 for a full refund. Any other concerns can be directed to Gluten Free Holdings Ltd on 021 365 006.

A trial by the Hamilton City Council to close off two streets to vehicles will soon be over.
The $902,000 trial ends on July 3. It currently sees the closure of a portion of Ward St and completely closes Rostrevor St to traffic.
Some business owners and staff made their dissatisfaction known at a meeting with council staff after experiencing a loss of custom.
Advocates for the trial included Bike Waikato chairman Richard Porter, who said that cyclists were making the most of no traffic.
