The Hamilton City Council has reported that Hamiltonians are recycling the equivalent of 10 white rhinos - or 2.3 tonnes - of compostable foods everyday.
Since the recycling initiative began, over 1000 tonnes of food scraps have been saved from going to the landfill. The food scraps, collected curbside weekly, are transferred to a collection station at Hampton Downs where it is turned into compost and sold after a 10-week period.
What do you think about the initiative so far?
