Please use the Rotokauri Rd entrance, opposite Kourataki Rd instead of the entrance across from the Zoo. If you use the new entrance across from the Zoo you won’t find us as we’ll be on the other side of the Park!

Bring a spade or shovel, gumboots, appropriate outdoor weather gear (e.g. hat, rain gear, sunglasses), some gardening gloves, water and a big smile. If you don’t want to dig there are other ways to help out (like bringing a food donation, or helping with setting out and serving a light lunch). A light lunch will be served (courtesy of EarthDiverse, Kaivolution, Go Eco, Waikato Interfaith Council, the Bahá’í Community, Ahmaddiyya Muslim Community, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Trust, and others). Any ready to eat food donations (e.g. bread, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, baked goods, UHT milk, tea bags, instant coffee, juice, etc.) will be much appreciated. Please bring your own plates, cutlery or mugs in order to minimise waste. 100 people would mean planting 5-10 saplings each.

This event is free, family-friendly and fun! Open to all. Mark this date in your diaries now. Come and help offset your carbon usage!

You will need to follow the rules for protecting kauri if you:

- Go into a kauri forest area
- Grow kauri plants/trees
- Have kauri on your property
- Own farm animals/stock that graze in or near a kauri forest

Together we can protect kauri. Find out what you can do

Enough is enough. Having worked as a teacher in Early childhood I have an idea of the commitment, drive and energy that is required to be an optimal teacher, and realise that in the schools system it is an extremely demanding role, at times and does require 100% involvement.
I also note that unlike the ECE, all school teachers get at least 10-12 weeks paid holiday.
At this point, I can feel the arrows getting ready to be drawn lol
I also note that the teachers have successfully won in 2019 a $272 million deal, not including the 1.2 billion over four years.
I also note, that before online teaching was organised and rolled out, and also after this, teachers managed to have some time not working, at home.
At the moment, my grandchildren and hundreds of children are once again being denied THEIR rights, which is, simply to gain an education that is on going and free of disruption
All I ask is that teachers desist their strike action, put our children FIRST and think of the millions of other jobs that are significantly lower paid, just as worthwhile, without 12 weeks holiday and greater hours.
In this time of huge strife in terms of the effects of climate change, ie the devastation caused by the recent storms, our country needs to work together, and support each other.

June is upon us, so it's well and truly time to hunker down for the colder temperatures. For some across Aotearoa, this just means a second duvet on the bed. And for others, it's defrosting your car windscreen daily and bringing out the heaters.
