Bras For Samoa Public Post

Joy Barrett from Silverdale

Hi please consider donating you used (or gift new ones) to an overseas project. I am partnering with a colleague in Chch that sends Bras to Samoa. Very few woman can afford bras there. For the woman that receive 2 bras each, their self esteem rockets. There are life changing stories of them being able to attend work interviews with confidence. Teenage and young women begin to feel heaps better about themselves.
I know that the cost of these ourselves means we hate throwing them out.
One moving story was when a catholic nun received her 2 bras, she was moved to tears. Her colleague another nun had turn about wearing the one bra. For these two women it meant that for the very first time they could attend their church together as without a bra they both felt they couldn't attend. Something we take so for granted when we reach for another under garment can be life changing.

Donate your good condition but no longer wanted bras. I will be taking the next lot in late May although will send to Chch if I have heaps.
Any sorts welcome; maternity, large and small size, mastectomy. Even if a wire is missing we will remove the other wire.
If you want to collect from your family or work colleagues then that is even better.
Drop them in to me. Feel free to leave if no one home in letter box or on doorstep.
20 Yorkshire Rd.
These are then packed around electronics or other delicate/fragile item in a larger container. Supporting all the way...
Thanks heaps.

ALSO: Do you any connections with freighting to Chch? I have got so many that it is now going to cost heaps to get them their. I will be taking 23kg down 23 May. I am on my 2nd large BLACK SACK FULL. BUT KEEP THEM COMING.

1. If you’re not using it, switch it off: If you’re not using an appliance, such as a heated towel, dryer, or TV, switch it off at the wall so it doesn’t use power on standby.

2. Change your cooking habits: Eat fresh veges instead of cooking. Using the oven for an hour a night can add $20 to your monthly power bill.

3. Use curtains to trap heat in: Let the sun heat your home during the day then close your curtains to stop the warmth escaping in the evening.

4. If you’re away, turn the hot water cylinder off: You can save up to $36 on your power bill if you switch your hot water cylinder off while away on weekends.

5. Make the most out of your FREE Hour of Power: Utilise power deals like Electric Kiwi’s free Hour of Power, which gives you one off peak hour of free power a day. Use this hour to heat your home, turn on the dishwasher, or run the washing machine and dryer.
