Poll: Would you spend a weekend in the garden to grow a season's worth of veges?

Jo Haywood Reporter from Homed

Gardener Lynda Hallinan couldn't quite believe it when she found out her grandfather used to spend one day in the garden every September, to produce enough veges to feed his family of eight for the summer. So she put his method to the test.

Hi all, I am a 19 year old student at the University of Waikato and I'm about to start my second year of psychology
Due to my current flat being a toxic environment, I am looking to board or flat in one of the areas surrounding the uni
I have two cats who are both well behaved and looked after, and am looking for a place that will love them as much as I do

I am incredibly reliable and can provide character references from previous employers, flatmates and teachers
I have my own car and furniture, I am just looking for a friendly environment

I can pay up to $150 a week (including internet and power)

If you or someone you know are looking for a boarder who fits my description, please contact me on 0220105598

Does your loved one ride a motorcycle?

Riding a motorcycle or scooter inevitably carries more risk than driving a four-wheeled vehicle. And it turns out quite a lot of us have someone close to us who rides (in fact, 48% of Neighbourly members!)

If you worry about their safety, there is something you can do: encourage them to take Ride Forever coaching, provided (and heavily subsidised) by ACC. It's delivered by experts and it works, as Simon Gotlieb's story shows. Neighbourly members can book a FREE Ride Forever course before 31 March using promo code NEIGH18 over here.

Sure, the passports.govt.nz website provides guidelines for submitting photos and there is a jovially ‘hip style' video which paints an "oh too easy" simplification on how to avoid the errors that eventually my attempts have been rejected for. It seems to accentuate my inability to be successful big time. Once rejected, each critique offers little suggestion as to “how to fix" the attempts being made for a subsequent resubmission. One critique even implied that a colour photo i had submitted was black and white. Subsequent submissions have then included different rejection comments that could also have applied to earlier submissions.

My choice to submit an online application is aimed precisely to achieve the goal of using the internet to save travel and expense of passport renewal, lifelong learning and staying connected in a digital world as a pensioner. Undertaking tasks online should be a breeze but I am finding this task not so simple at all. Surely there could be a template provided with instructions of how to set multiple phones or cameras to achieve the desired aspect ratio, pixel size and light intensity? I have a 20megapixel Sony xperia smartphone which takes impressive photos - but this assignment has almost got me stumped. Relevant comments would be appreciated.
I will withhold my far from friendly looking attempts at photo submission meanwhile.
