Over the following eight weeks we will explore the geographical, social, economic and political characteristics of this small nation, which has already punched above its weight locally and internationally. Begins Fridays starting 6 August, 4:00-6:00pm. In-person or on-line.

Mayor elected by ratepayers votes had said she learnt of the meeting only on 21st. Unfortunately, Mayor and Councillors elected by ratepayers votes are not invited. It looks like our elected representatives have no say and do not know what is going on in Council.

My wife, Horiana Henderson, is running in the by-election. We have lived in the Hamilton East Ward for more than 30 years so she is very aware of issues relating to our neighbourhood (e.g. Council proposing to close the Brooklyn Road leg of 5 Crossroads and increasing rates by 8.9% with compounding 4.9% increases in the following 2 years while at the same time planning to spend $34 million on the Cook Street cycleway at a cost of $12.5 million per kilometre). You can find out more about her on her facebook page: www.facebook.com...
