There are 10 canidates competing for the single seat on council. We're keen to hear what is the single most important thing neighbours would like the newly-elected councillor to focus on over the next two years. Comment below!

And I’m equally sure everyone assumes their chosen insurer will cough up the amount required to rebuild our pride and joy if we’re caught up in the next wildfire or earthquake? Sadly, in most cases, this will not happen due to a nasty little clause tucked away in the policy’s small print that says “all sums insured are GST inclusive”. So what, you’re probably thinking. Well – your schedule may say your house is insured for $400,000, but if that includes GST it means you’re really only covered for $348,000, which will probably mean you’ll be left short and not have enough money to rebuild. And since that is the main reason you insured your house in the first place you’ll be rightly ****** off. The policy I recommend would give you the full amount you’re insured for with any GST paid on top ie an extra 15% cover. Not only that, but if your rebuilding cost is still not covered they will give you up to 10% more. This all comes at no extra charge, and this policy is usually no dearer anyway.
And that’s not all. My recommended policy pays more than most in other areas too inc:
• Retaining walls
• Clearance of rubble
• Landscaping after rebuild
• Alternative accommodation if your house is unliveable
To avoid any nasty surprises why not let me carry out a WOF on your policy (see attachment for more details) and tell you how it stacks up? Normally valued at $200, for a limited time there is no charge to members of Neighbourly, and no obligation to take things any further – so you’ve really got nothing to lose.
To claim your free, no obligation policy WOF, call me (John) on 855 9041 or 021 184 3499

Volunteering Canterbury
Volunteering Canterbury has been supporting volunteering for over 25 years in Canterbury. Increasingly we find ourselves going to the community to talk about volunteering; encouraging people to volunteer within their neighbourhoods. With people moving as a result of the quakes in 2010/2011, and the newcomers to the city for the rebuild, volunteering is providing excellent opportunities to make connections. We are seeking assistance for two tablets and a marquee so that we more readily attend community events and show people, on the spot, how to get involved with volunteering. VOTE NOW!
The House of Grace
The House of Grace is a home for pregnant teens and young mothers. Young mums are built up to be confident mothers, capable of raising children within healthy family environments. We help young women continue their education, overcome personal challenges and break free from issues that may be holding them back. As a non-profit and non-government funded organisation, we rely on donations. Funds will go towards furnishings for the home, new couches and updated bedding. We desire to make the home a beautiful, safe and peaceful environment for young mums who may not have experienced this before. VOTE NOW!
