A pay dispute between Waikato bus drivers and Go Bus has escalated after 20 months of negotiations.
Buses were running on a Saturday schedule during Monday's protests.
The situation escalated when First Union members announced the wouldn't take fares on Waikato urban routes on Monday.
Go Bus said it would lock out workers and operate reduced services.
Drivers then blocked buses at the Transport Centre and Higgins Rd depot. They've said protests will continue as long as workers are locked out.

Hamilton's Conductive Education centre wants to replace its 11-year-old playground.
Kids at the centre have a physical disability, such as cerebral palsy, and often "learning, communication or sensory needs", centre manager Sharon Harris said.
On Saturday, the Conductive Education Superstock Challenge at the Kihikihi track will try to raise $100,000 for the playground.
Ingham Hyundai, Wade Racing and Splice Construction are hosting the challenge.

The road is blocked near Tamahere. Diversions are in place but the agency says delays in the area are likely for all road users. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and expect major traffic delays.
The NZ Transport Agency is advising people heading to Hamilton Airport to allow plenty of extra time for their journey. People travelling to the airport should consider using State Highway 3 from Hamilton. Keep up to date here
