Tauwhare Hall needs you!
Tauwhare Hall Committee Annual General Meeting
is on Wednesday 12 September 2018 at 7.30pm
This past year, the Committee has focused on maintenance and improvement projects around the outside of the Hall. The car park resealing is finally underway, with temporary repairs complete and a resealing in the spring, when the weather should be better for it. A new front fence is also being built soon.
The current Committee is Craig Sharman, Pippa Berry-Cope, Adelle Cooke, Lockie Verner, Janine Broekhuizen, Heather Mollekin, and David Mollekin.
We have three Committee members who have now left the district, and two others who are definitely standing down at this year’s AGM (due to other community commitments). We need new committee members to keep a functioning committee going. We need you!
The amount of time required from Committee members is usually to attend 4 meetings a year, with each meeting taking around 1 ½ hours. This is to discuss and organise various tasks that keep the Hall running, such as taking bookings and arranging maintenance work to be carried out. The Hall Committee would welcome people who like to organise social events for the community too.
Being on the Hall Committee is a great way to meet local people and make a contribution to the community, through the running of our much used and enjoyed Hall.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Kia ora neighbours. If you've got a family recipe for courgettes, we'd love to see it and maybe publish it in our magazine. Send your recipe to mailbox@nzgardener.co.nz, and if we use it in the mag, you will receive a free copy of our January 2025 issue.
Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?
An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.
When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
