Interested in Biblical History? Learn about the DEAD SEA SCROLLS with EarthDiverse!

Ever since their discovery in the 1940s the Dead Sea Scrolls have generated massive amounts of scholarly controversy. Even those outside the field of Biblical Studies tend to be vaguely aware of academic scandals, religiously motivated cover-ups and conspiracy theories. So what is it about the “most significant archaeological discovery of the 20th century” that has created so much controversy?

Join us for a 6-week seminar with Archeological Scholar and Historian Dennis Green, PhD, on the history and intrigue of the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Meets Wednesday nights beginning 22 March 2023, 7:00-8:30pm. Both in-person and via Zoom from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.

I am no longer looking in from the outside
I had a sense of isolation and loneliness which had been with me from childhood. As an overweight child I went on to be an obese adult.

I suffered from massive anxiety and later on in life with depression. If asked how I was I would reply 'fine', but inside felt dreadful. I recall feeling depressed in my late teens and later had postnatal depression with the births of my children. The amounts I was eating at these times increased and so did my weight - the more I ate, the worse I felt; the worse I felt, the more I ate.

Spend a Day with EarthDiverse at the Auckland Art Gallery!

Join Peter Dornauf and Norman Franke for a guided tour of the Auckland Art Gallery. Enjoy and discuss masterpieces of European and New Zealand art history and of contemporary art. Price includes bus transport from Hamilton & GST. This one-day excursion takes place on Saturday 18 March 2023. Bus departs 9:00am from in front of the EarthDiverse Centre at 401 Anglesea Street and returns at 6:00pm.

Explore the taonga (treasures) of the Auckland Art Gallery with two art experts who have a background in art history and cultural history and who are themselves practitioners. The guided tours are interactive: A brief introduction into or contextualisation of the object d’art is followed by questions and answers and discussion. Using the two major shows ‘Myths of Masculinity’ and ‘Romancing the collection’ as a basis, we will have a look at portrait and landscape paintings, still lives and installations, myth making in and through art, social, political and cultural discourses in light of historical and modern art making.

National would pull immigration levers to get the country moving, she told the crowd.

Her keynote charted the orthodoxy of National Party policy: tax relief, ensuring innovation is fostered and that “discipline” could be restored to Government spending – albeit with topical issues of climate change, truancy and infrastructure investment front and centre.

The Reserve Bank also featured in her kōrero, and on Friday it'll be governor Adrian Orr's turn to speak.
