Red Cross is operating a shopping service for vulnerable people. The testing criteria has changed considerably, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern yesterday said the criteria for testing had been widened to include people with Covid-19 symptoms but not necessarily a history of travel, or exposure to another case. The labs have a capacity for 3700 tests per day, there are two more labs gearing up to provide tests as well looking up to 5000 tests per day. If in doubt call your medical centre.

Waikato people struggling to get food and other necessities during lockdown now have a number to call.

Freephone 0800 800 405 was set up by the Waikato Civil Defence and Emergency Management Group for people struggling to get food, groceries, medication or other household goods and services.

The group is not yet sure how big the need is, and say the 0800 number doesn't replace other Government helplines.

Not obeying the one in one out rule, unsupervised children touching things on the shelves, (he then has to clean), and a general disregard for the gravity of his health and the health of the community. So he has chosen to close his business down.
I can't say I blame him, but if as a community, had we known of his concerns, perhaps we could have helped. No amount of signage seemed to be working so a physical presence at the door reminding people of the rules may have enabled him to remain open. Alas that is all in hindsight now. He did indicate a number of his colleagues in the industry would follow suit so perhaps we can preserve the local community dairy with a bit of dialogue with them and a reminder at the door, by those who can afford the time to help.

Coronavirus: Hamilton residents raise a glass to community spirit

Reporter Hamilton Press

Hi neighbours,
The coronavirus has given rise to a number of quirky phenomenon: the elbow bump, teddy bears in windows and, now, driveway drinkies.
In an effort to boost morale and keep connected, residents along Hamilton's Gillies Ave organised a get together, of sorts, on Friday afternoon.

In an effort to boost morale and keep connected, residents along Hamilton's Gillies Ave organised a get together, of sorts, on Friday afternoon.
It was strictly BYO as neighbours chatted to each other from the safety of their own driveways or berms.
