We are a group of three recent arrivals to the great city of Hamilton and would like to form a book discussion group under the auspices of the New Zealand Book Discussion Service ( BDS ). So far we have four people interested and would like the group to be around 8 to 10 in size.
If you need to know more, please go to www.bds.org.nz... to find out more about this wonderful service and it’s protocols for operating a book group in our community.

If you would like to be in this new Hamilton based group please send me something about yourself, your interests, book group experience and you contact details.
We are happy to coordinate the group set up and facilitate the first meeting and take it from there

63 percent of submitters opposed paid commuter parking on the city fringe, however, Council voted to introduce paid commuter parking in 2024. No details of how much will be charged, and where, that will need to be worked out. It will go to the public for consultation and will ultimately be approved or rejected.
Why consult again?
Can they not accept that 63% are opposed?
Southgate “I would have preferred that we would have been able to respond to the ratepayers’ requests to reduce rates ... however that is democracy. BS
Ignored the requests?
84 percent supported bulldozing the aging Founders theatre – Council voted (10 out of the 12) to give six months of “breathing room” to the Theatre of the Impossible Trust (TOTI), to put together a full proposal and find $10 million to renovate and repurpose the building as a community centre.
The theatre has been closed since 2016.
Has TOTI been sitting on their hands for six years that they need another six months?
Angela O’Leary was not comfortable with the 8.9 percent rates increase “But we have responded through this whole process to what the community has asked for”.
No they didn’t.
What a waste of time, money and effort going through the consultation process. That is democracy, what the community asked for and giving breathing space to TOTI statements are pure prevarication and against the majority. It is not democracy.

New Zealand’s lush green pastures and temperate climate means our country produces some of the world’s best beef.

New Zealand is one of McDonald’s top ten beef-producing markets and it’s such a hit with the rest of the world that a significant percentage of NZ’s beef exports are to international McDonald’s markets.

We partner with many Kiwi farmers who produce our beef, including Whangara Farms which was the first beef farm outside of Europe to be invited to the McDonald’s Flagship Farmers programme.

ANZCO Foods, based in the small Taranaki town of Waitara, are responsible for making our 100% beef patties. About 90% of the staff at the Waitara plant are locals and they manage to produce around half a million patties each day.

Our quality beef cuts are minced and that’s it. No additives or fillers, just mince that is formed in patties, before they’re flash-frozen and sent to restaurants.
