Many have been underweight, overweight or obese; others were people of average weight yet suffered with an obsession with food. Members may have used exercise and other substances to try and control their weight. Before coming to AEA, members found that they were powerless over food, and unable to stop the food obsession.  Newcomers welcome.


There are AEA meetings in Christchurch, Wellington and Hamilton as well as regular web events.

The cost to fill them has risen - which you might have noticed if you've had one recently.
A worldwide helium shortage is behind the price hike, which is being noticed by David's Emporium in Hamilton.
It's not so bad if you want one standard latex balloon, manager Kim Owen said.
But it adds up when people book 30 or 40 balloons to be filled at once, so they're developing some alternatives.

Hamilton bus service disruption this Friday

Many Hamilton bus services won't be running on Friday morning due to a driver union meeting.

Many Hamilton bus services won't be running on Friday morning due to a driver union meeting.

The Orbiter, Comet and all regional buses will operate as normal, Busit said.

"All other Hamilton bus services will be affected between 9am and 1pm, with many services not running," the statement said.

"Please take the Orbiter or Comet when you can. Alternatively take the first available bus that comes to your stop, or travel before 9am or after 1pm."

The regional buses which will be running are: 20 Cambridge, 21 Northern Connector, 22 Morrinsville, 23 Raglan and 24 Te Awamutu.

It's true that you agreed to a legally binding contract as soon as you drove into the parking lot. Thankfully, New Zealand law protects consumers from the exploitative clauses that corporates love to slip in the fine print.

Under contract law, parking companies can only claim for "the actual and reasonable costs they incurred". Charging $65 for a short overstay in an empty carpark is as far from reasonable as you can get.

Hundreds of thousands of inexpensive items that pass through the retail giant's checkouts every year, so it's only to be expected there will be recalls – Kmart even has a recalls page on its website, and there are 31 products on the list.

The $55 timber Occasional Chair is the latest casualty, although this is a withdrawal rather than a recall. We don't know the reason for its withdrawal, except Kmart says it is for "a potential quality issue". But what other products have been found wanting?
