We are asking the public to help us, by reporting any unsafe or dangerous behaviour.

If you witness any riding behaviour that could put anybody at risk, please call 111 if it is happening now, or 105 if it is after the fact.

Ratepayers and residents of the Thames Coromandel could soon become victims of consultation overload after their council decided to push two more proposals out for public perusal.

The meeting got off to a slow but intense start when a recent Thames Community Board decision about a new swimming pool complex was discussed, with councillors Rekha Giri-Percival and John Grant questioning why future funding options were not addressed by the board before being put to council.

Hamilton’s overloaded sewer pipes have scuttled about 750 potential developments in a little over two years, council figures show.

The sewerage situation prompted a city council clamp-down in 2023, effectively shutting down development in large parts of the city to avoid putting the system under extra pressure.

But the constraints - and the council’s response - seem to have “severely dented the confidence” of investors, city councillor Sarah Thomson says.

Do you think the council made the right call on restricting new developments? Tell us your reasons in the comments (adding NFP if you don't want your words used in print).
