Peer support after brain injury
After experiencing a traumatic brain injury it can be difficult for people to return home and to the activities that are important to them. It can be helpful to talk to someone else who has been there, who can understand, and provide support or guidance based on their experience with recovering from brain injury.
AUT are setting up a peer support system in Gisborne, connecting people who have experience recovering from brain injury with people who have had a more recent brain injury. People who have received this support in the past told us that talking to a peer helped them feel they were not alone, and gave them a sense of hope that life would get better.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
