MetService is warning of a prolonged period of rain for western Bay of Plenty and northern Gisborne - residents could see slips, power cuts and road closures this weekend thanks to some heavy rain and big seas.

A front is expected to stay slow moving about East Cape this afternoon. A low is forecast to form to the northeast of Bay of Plenty on Saturday then move onto the area during Sunday. The front and low are expected to deliver a prolonged period of rain to Bay of Plenty and Gisborne through the weekend, with heavy falls at times. A heavy rain Watch for eastern Bay of Plenty and northern Gisborne has been upgraded to a full warning.

This watch is for the possibility that rainfall accumulations could approach warning amounts for western Bay of Plenty and southern Gisborne from Saturday afternoon to Sunday night.

- Travellers should be prepared for problems, and locals are advised to have emergency kits with enough food and drinking water for three days per person in case some people were cut off.

At the current spot price of Bitcoin and energy provider Kwh rates the machines just break even. NZ power is very costly compared to the rest of the world so the only way to mine profitably is direct with renewable energy sources. I would like to pilot some sites in NZ and bring foreign investment to create large scale farms.

Please contact me if you have any sort of connections to renewable energy or even if you have at least 1.5Kw surplus solar at your home which will cater for one machine that is a good start, private power generators with large Kw and even MW capacity are very welcome.

Regards -Ricardo

ACC Minister Hon. Iain Lees-Galloway recently swapped his suit for shorts and a tee to join a ‘Live Stronger for Longer’ strength and balance class. These classes help us as we age to retain lower body and core strength, remaining active to avoid falls.

No-one is bullet proof, falls happen and some can result in broken bones, pain and long healing times and can also make us fearful of falling again. Losing confidence can really affect quality of life.

Live Stronger for Longer strength and balance classes are growing nationwide. Visit www.livestronger.org.nz and join a class near you, you’ll find lots of practical information, advice and resources on how to live an active, healthy and independent life.

Proudly brought to you by ACC, MoH, HQSC and your local community health providers.
