Countdown to Manawatu Art Expo

The Feilding & District Art Society

Less than one week to go until Manawatū Art Expo! When our region’s premier art event begins on July 15, you will have the chance to see original artwork by 99 artists from all over New Zealand.

Among them, today’s Artist a Day: Jin Hou.

Born in Beijing, China, Jin came to New Zealand in 2002. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Mass Media from the University of Canterbury and is currently based in Palmerston North, where she creates watercolour paintings inspired by travel and meditation.

Of her work, Jin says that painting allows her to express herself. She also finds painting to be a kind of spiritual practice, allowing her to experience a sense of oneness with the universe. When painting, Jin invests her energy and emotions in an effort to construct paintings that trigger memory and feeling: bringing viewers love, peace, and light.

Jin will be exhibiting five artworks at Manawatū Art Expo. To experience these works, be sure to visit between 9am and 4.30pm, July 15 through 17 – Palmerston North Conference and Function Centre.

To see more Artist a Day Posts, and to stay in the know about all things Manawatū Art Expo, make sure you 'Like' Feilding and District Art Society on Facebook.

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.

When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
