Being Kiwi is a project looking at the experiences of life in New Zealand for people of all cultures. It calls for the collection of official statistics on hate crimes, looks at discrimination in our schools and takes a stroll through Auckland, now one of the most diverse cities in the world.

Do you want to help settle former refugees in our community? Do you have a few hours a week to spare? Consider volunteering with the New Zealand Red Cross as a Refugee Support Volunteer!

As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a former refugee family as they begin their new life in Dunedin. You can be involved in setting up their home before they arrive, helping them enrol with schools and doctors, showing them public transport, and many other things that we may take for granted as locals.

We provide comprehensive training and a tailored support network to ensure our volunteers are well prepared to provide support to newly arrived families. We still have some spaces available on our next training programme which starts Friday 20 Sept at 5.30pm.

For more information or to apply for this programme, please contact Belinda Le Lievre, NZ Red Cross, Dunedin Service Centre on 03 477 1527, or via the Red Cross website: www.redcross.org.nz...
