If the answer is a 'no' or perhaps an initial 'yes' followed by an 'I've changed my mind', then who gets to keep the ring? And what are the consumer ins and outs of trying to get a refund on a diamond sparkler?

We're looking for individuals who are happy to share their story of a ring return: perhaps the break up was acrimonious and you've tried to cash in the ring yourself, or maybe your ex disappeared with the sparkler, never to be seen again. If you've got a story, please share it below (please add NFP if you don't want it used in print). And if you've got a really good story that'll take a little longer, please email kelly.dennett@stuff.co.nz.

Hi neighbours,

Many people setting up paddling pools for their children this summer will be breaking the law - are you one of them?

Any pool, fixed or portable, deeper than 400mm is now subject to safety provisions under the Building Act, meaning there a quite a few rules you probably aren't even aware of.

For example, do you have a 1.2-metre fixed childproof fence with a self-closing gate opening outwards?

What are your thoughts on paddling pool safety? If faced with an inspection, would your pool set-up pass? Do you think all these rules are essential? What are your tips for setting up a paddling pool safely?

Paint discharge - Lindsays Creek next to the Caltex, Craigleith St.

Jess from North Dunedin

Someone has discharged white paint into the stormwater system, which has now ended up in Lindsay's Creek - it comes out under the bridge at Craigleith St and into the creek on the east side.
I've already called ORC pollution hotline, they've checked it out and confirmed it.
