The blaze ripped through No 7 Balmac, a popular restaurant in the upmarket suburb of Maori Hill, on August 18.
It is set to open its doors again on Thursday – fingers crossed – says owner Katrina Toovey, who started the business about a decade ago.
The restaurant made headlines when James Bond actor Daniel Craig and his Oscar-winning wife Rachel Weisz dined at the restaurant in 2014, when Weisz was in Dunedin to film The Light Between Oceans.

The unnamed officer was dubbed "Spiderman" for his agility in climbing the roof of Logan Park High School on Wednesday, about 7pm, Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen said.
While on the roof he chased three teenage offenders, who had been spotted acting suspiciously.
"They were actively avoiding police," Dinnissen said of the trio.
The uniformed crime fighter managed to track down the boys, aged 13, 14 and 15.
No items were taken and no damage was reported at the school, and it was unclear what the boys' motives were, he said.

The rental process for the flat known as 'Debacle', which features a booze and bong-loving cartoon character on the front door, was slammed by Housing and Urban Development Minister Phil Twyford.
"It is disappointing that Cutlers Property Management treat the renting out of properties to students as a game," he said of the way the company had marketed the nine-bedroom flat in the heart of Dunedin's student quarter.

This month is all about supporting our young people, to encourage and empower them to not only be the change-makers and community builders of tomorrow but also the best versions of themselves. To listen to their perspective and remember that it’s not just about what we can teach them, but what lessons they can teach us. After all, the recipe for creating healthy, happy children includes a lot of the same ingredients for building safer, more resilient and connected communities.
