I created an original quote post of one of the many Personal Development gems shared. The [] around the word any indicate the difference from Tina's verbatim quote that said "your". In the context of her book she is sharing the value of standing before one's small self & having an empowering chat with her/him about backing oneself. Without that context it seemed a bit pointed to have a picture quote saying "I am bigger than your small ideas of me. I expect freedom. I will stand here for as long as it takes".

At Dream Big New Zealand we are very big on Personal Responsibility. The importance of keeping our sights on ourselves with the view of improving daily.

Many years ago now I was inspired by another quote on Pinterest that said something to the effect of "Instead of pouring your energy into complaining about what you aren't happy with - use that energy on solutions / building something better / as a guide to grow oneself". I was very inspired by that. It was the beginning of my journey on being far less interested in judging others. It became a rather lack-lustre way of boosting oneself - ugh!

We'd love to hear from you in the comments what this quote brings up for you -

The Dunedin City Council voted to make George St a one-way, south-bound street as part of a project to revitalise the area.

Mayor Aaron Hawkins earlier said the move was about “future focused decision-making”.

But he acknowledged it was “no silver bullet”, and it would take more than urban design and transport changes to save the central city’s retail precinct. Read more here.

Otago Peninsula’s famous albatross chick has taken to the skies, but a satellite tracker will allow fans of her livestream to keep following her journey.

Tiaki was born at Pukekura/Taiaroa Head on January 24 and is among up to 30 new chicks ready to leave their nests.

The chicks have grown steadily since hatching in January and February and the first to fledge took flight on September 6. Tiaki fledged on Saturday morning, and the Department of Conservation (DOC) expects all the chicks will have fledged by early next month.

Tiaki was this season’s Royal Cam star, with more than 2.3 million people tuning in for about 400,000 hours since December 1.

Those who watched Tiaki grow on the livestream can continue to follow her journey using a satellite tracker that will show where the albatrosses go in their early years. Continue reading here.

Dunedin's main shopping street is getting a 21st century makeover, but councillors have yet to decide what direction the street will head.

A detailed business case, which will be debated by city councillors on Tuesday, stopped short of recommending whether the street should remain two-way or become one-way.

The advantage of a one-way system was that it offered more space, and had support from vulnerable road users like pedestrians and cyclists, the business case notes.

However, it did not have any support from the retail and commercial members of a central city advisory group.

Read more here and tell us what option you prefer and why in the comments below.
