The five-metre vessel flipped as it tried to cross the bar at Taieri Mouth, 34km south of Dunedin, on Saturday.
Attempts to revive a 2-year-old girl, who was later pulled out from under the partially submerged boat, were unsuccessful. She later died in Dunedin Hospital. An older sibling remains in a critical condition, while the mother, father and another child were released on Sunday.
Our thoughts are with the family and their loved ones at this tragic time.

💝 It’s a very rare & special organisation that gives safe space for people to explore their depths such as identifying limiting beliefs that are holding us back from what we truly want.
🌟 What a delight it is to uncover a truth like that as it empowers us to make change. It may feel uncomfortable. It’s very important to stay the course to reach the place we really want to be.
🔥 One of our very wise leaders today said something that struck a chord with me: “People move on from here even after creating huge financial success for themselves & I believe it’s because they stop confronting themselves”. They stop doing the Personal Development every day.
🧘🏼♂️ Another very wise leader shared she’d learned 100% of families are dysfunctional... as we are all imperfect humans. So we may have picked up some unhelpful beliefs from childhood.
🤦♀️ When we start “adulting” we might realise the importance of self awareness & growth if there are areas of our lives we’d like different results in. As we make change & experience positive results our self worth improves.
🦸 Even if each generation makes 1% change slowly our population will evolve to have higher levels of self awareness allowing us to be better parents / teachers / friends / family members which has extremely valuable repercussions for everyone.
🦋 I’m so excited to imagine what we’ll be capable of achieving collectively as well as individually. Instead of all our energy going in to protecting or projecting our pain we will be more capable of using it in supernatural ways ! A field of infinite potential ⭐️🌈🌀♾

Nominated by Alan Middleditch from Dunedin: "My local motor garage is CJ Sinclair 50 Charlemont Street, Ranfurly 9332. The owner is Richard Smith whose family have been in the motor trade in the Ranfurly Naseby area for over 100 years. During the last years lock down our car broke down and would not start leaving us feeling quite uncomfortable as we live some distance from medical & other services. Richard came to our rescue and later returned to provide a more suitable repair. We need such companies and people in our rural areas. Richard demonstrates such excellent attributes required in our area."

These conditions have led to new fire restrictions across the Otago Region from 12pm on Thursday 1 April until 12pm Tuesday 6 April.
What you need to know:
- All fire permits have been suspended in Coastal Zone Dunedin, Clutha including Catlins, Waitaki, Central Zone and Lakes.
- In the Otago Central Zone, open air fires have been prohibited as well as no roadside mowing, no cultivation, no fireworks or pyrotechnic displays and no explosives to be set off. This includes Alexandra, Clyde, Cromwell, Wanaka, Lake Hawea, Naseby, Ranfurly, Kurow, Otematata, Omarama and Middlemarch.
Central Otago Deputy Principal Rural Fire Officer Bobby Lamont asks anyone who has had a burn in the last seven days to check that these are completely out.
"The strong winds have the potential to reignite any old burn sites so people should check they are fully extinguished. Dig right down into the site, pour water over it and check with the back of your hand there is no heat."
