OUSA made national headlines when it bought the bar, known to generations of former students as The Oriental, in December 2018.
That bar, which reopened in time for Orientation 2019, was designed to be “a safe entertainment option for students, particularly first-year students”, events manager Jason Schroeder said.
But the bar, which has been shut since the nationwide lockdown, will remain closed due to health and safety concerns about the building. OUSA is now looking for an alternative venue.
