On Sunday 26th March 2023 whilst out riding his bike. Adored husband and father of Rach (Olsen), Olly, and Charlie. Loving son of Denese and the late Russ, fabulous brother and brother-in-law of Chris and Lisa, Nicki and Dave, Tim and Sue. Son-in-law of Liz and the late Peter, special brother-in-law of Caroline and Jonty, Andrew and Leanne. Loved uncle of Caitlin, Bella, James, Emma, Sam, Sophie, Tom, Kate, George, Charlotte, Harriet, George, Elliot, and Braedyn.
Mike will be missed beyond measure.
We have all lost the most generous, fun, loving man.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at the Sydney Flying Squadron in Kirribilli, Sydney, on Thursday 13th April 2023 at 3.00pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Heart Research Institute.

Formerly of Upper Hutt. Passed peacefully at Eldon Lodge, Paraparaumu, on April 1, 2023, in her 92nd year. Dearly loved wife of the late Norm for 63 years. Much loved mother of John & Julie, Graeme (dec), Tony & Sue, Ken & Anita, Raymond & Pia, and Judith & Ken. Adored Grandmother of Anita, Nick, Alice (dec), Adam, Rebecca, Megan, Tristan, Sam, Rochelle, Peter, Christine, Adele, and her 12 great-grandchildren. A special thank you to the teams at Eldon Hospital and Kapiti Rest Home for their continued support and loving care. A service to celebrate Judy’s life will be held in the Kapiti Coast Funeral Home Chapel, 9-11 Hinemoa Street, Paraparaumu, on Wednesday, April 5, at 2.00pm, to be followed by a private cremation. Passed away peacefully on Friday, March 31, 2023, at Springlands Lifestyle Village. Aged 65 years. Very much loved daughter of Shirley and the late Bill Douglas. Loved sister and sister-in-law of Leslie and Pauline Douglas, Sheryl and Eddie Johnsen, and Jenny Gillespie. Loved aunt and great-aunt of her nieces and nephews, and their families. Brother to his siblings in the Netherlands. Requiem Mass will be held on Tuesday 4 April at St Peter’s Catholic Church, 21 Anzac Street, Cambridge at 11.00am. Died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Tuarangi Rest Home, Ashburton, on Friday, March 31, 2023. Dearly cherished wife of Des Syme. Much loved mother and mother-in-law of Fiona and Richard Maw, Nigel Syme, and Sharon and Karl Viney. Loved grandmother to George and Emily, Ava and Jack. Loved sister and sister-in-law of Shirley and Joe Alexander (Christchurch), Margaret Hotene (Porirua), John and Daphne Syme (Staveley), Errol and Jocelyn Syme, Ivan and Annette Syme, and loved aunty to all her nieces and nephews. Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Nurse Maude Hospice, aged 79 years. Loved husband of Fay. Much loved father, father-in-law, grandfather, and loved by his nieces and nephews. Respected life member of the Hornby Rugby League Club. Special thanks to the amazing Nurse Maude Hospice and Amyes Road Medical Centre staff who cared for Grant over the last month. On March 31, 2023, at Waikari Hospital, in her 99th year. Dearly loved wife and best friend of the late John. Dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Julia and Brian O’Sullivan, Lawrie and Jenny, Tom and Pam, Peter, Lorna, Bob and Karren, Paul and Karen. Wonderful and much loved nana of her 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Friends of Waikari Hospital.
