WALLS, Jack Young

Born in Wellington July 1922, took his last breath peacefully on April 11, 2023. Lovingly supported by family and staff at Golden Bay Community Health. In his 101st year, Jack was loved by all of his whanau. His wife of 72 years, Hazel, passed away in 2021. Jack will be greatly missed by his 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
We will always carry him in our hearts.
A private family burial will be followed by an open celebration of his life at Onekaka Hall, on Monday, April 17, at 3.30pm.
“Jack scored his last goal, played into extra time but the final whistle has gone.”

Aged 92, passed peacefully on 12 April 2023. Much loved Mum of Chris, Hilma, Gail, and Greg, nana & great-nana. Thank you to all the staff Whitianga Continuing Care.

BRASH, William Louis (Bill)

Suddenly at Rowena Jackson on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, aged 81 years. Loved eldest son of the late Tuddy and Mabel Brash, respected brother and brother-in-law of of the late Patricia, Robin and Lynda, Wyniss, Allan and Diane. Loved uncle of Sharyn, Haidee, Grant, Mark, Emma and Tony, and great-uncle and friend of young Hunter. After resting at Conyers Street Bill will be farewelled at J Fraser and Sons Chapel, Cnr Esk and Doon Streets, Invercargill, on Wednesday, April 19 at 11.00am. A private interment at the Eastern Cemetery will follow. Special thanks for all the love, care and attention that was given to Bill from all at Rowena Jackson for the last 16 years, his second home since leaving Scotts Gap. McKAY, Betty Margaret (nee Barr)

Peacefully at Christchurch Hospital on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 aged 97 years. Loved and treasured wife of the late Ian McKay, dearly loved Mum and mother-in-law of Joy and Jimmy, Wayne (deceased) and Moana, and loved Nana of Angela, Georgia, Craig, Charlie, Megan, Ian, Nikki, and Dylan, much loved Aunty to all her nephews and nieces. A special thanks to the amazing staff at Kauri Lodge for their care of Betty. At Betty’s request, a private cremation has been held.

Dearly loved son-in-law of Murray and Aileen Straight (Templeton). Loved brother-in-law of Claire and Graeme Peters (Dunedin), Michael and Kate Straight (Cork, Ireland), Andy and Amanda Straight (Dunedin). Loved uncle of Joe, Sam, and Molly Peters, Donnacha, Róisín and Kitty Straight. A much loved friend of the Straight and O’Reilly families.

LASKEWITZ, Hylke Sytse

On April 3, 2023, peacefully at Nurse Maude Hospice, aged 68 years. Dearly loved husband of Gail, much loved father and father-in-law of Katie and Brian (Australia), Desmond and Kylie, and Amanda and Patrick. Adored grandad of Emma, and Josh; Bonnie, and Austin; Kyla, and Ayden. Loved son of the late Hank and Pé, loved brother and brother-in-law of Carla and John, John and Sue, and Anneke, loved uncle to all his nieces and nephews.

McKEOWN, Michael John (Mike)

On Monday 10th April 2023, following a tragic accident, Mike passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family. Aged 68 years old. Dearly loved husband of Karen. Loving father of Annah, Luke, Cam, and Ryan. Loved father-in-law of Adriana and Jess and beloved ‘Poppa’ of Tyler, Willow and Raife. A service to celebrate Mike’s life will be held on Tuesday 18th April in the Bledisloe Hall at Mystery Creek Event Centre, Gate 3, 125 Mystery Creek Road, Ohaupo, at 11.00am, followed by a private family cremation. In lieu of flowers a donation to Hospice Waikato may be left at the service or made online. This service will be live-streamed. Please email staff@jamesrhill.co.nz for the link. Passed away on Sunday, 9 April, 2023, aged 80 years. Dearly loved husband of Denise. Loved father and father-in-law of Sam & Alice, Steve & Rebecca. Treasured Poppa of Stanley and Guy. As per Mike’s wishes, a private cremation has taken place.

TWOSE, Claire Marian

Died peacefully on April 11, 2023, aged 88 years. Much loved wife of 42 years of the late Ernie, mother and mother-in-law of Megan and Paula, Simon and Deborah, Matthew and Alison, Andrew and Patricia, and grannie of Kimere, Saimoni, Melini, Eseta-Claire, Laura, Imogen, Evie, Frances, Samuel, and Emeri. An indefatigable gardener, conservationist, traveller, and giver of advice. All communications to the Family can be left on Claire’s tribute page at www.tributes.co.nz.... In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Forest and Bird Society. A private family Service will be held for Claire, and she will thereafter be laid to rest in Kaikoura Cemetery, next to Ernie, facing the seawards Kaikoura mountain range.

PULLAR, Alan Ramsay

On April 11, 2023, our dearly loved Alan passed away peacefully at home, aged 77. He was surrounded by his wife Barbra, daughters Jess and Emilie, and sons-in-law Chris and Dave. His grandchildren Olivia and Grace were also never far from his thoughts. Alan had an impact on many people’s lives with his quick wit and determination in overcoming life’s obstacles, inspiring many with his poignant words “I said to myself don’t look back, otherwise I won’t go forward.”

On April 13, 2023, peacefully passed away after a long battle. Much Loved husband of Gail and father and father-in-law of Corrina and Steve McCrone, and the late Desiree Robertson.
