Peacefully at Southland Hospital, Invercargill, on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. Aged 96 years. Loved wife of the late Bill. Loved mother and mother-in-law of David and Kay (Adelaide), Marilyn (Invercargill), the late Peter (Palmerston North), and Ian and Chantal (Timaru). Loved Nana of Lauren and Nick, Danielle and Charlotte, Hamish and Kylie, Caitlin and Tom, and Eilish and Jake. Loved great-Nana of Louie, Noa, Elfie, Finn and Sofia. A celebration of Rona’s life will be held in J Fraser and Sons Chapel, cnr Esk and Doon Streets, Invercargill, at 1.30pm, on Monday, April 24. Private cremation thereafter. Tributes may be left on Rona’s tribute page at frasersfunerals.co.nz/tributes where a livestream of the service will also be available.

Passed away peacefully on April 16, 2023, at Elloughton Gardens, aged 87 years. Dearly loved husband of the late Valerie. Much loved father and father-in-law to Michael, Stephen and Janelle. Passed away peacefully at Nelson Tasman Hospice on April 19, 2023. Son of Brian and the late Jean Layton. Loving partner of Ele, son-in-law of ‘Granny’ Margaret. Much loved father of Hannah and father-in-law of Ken. Grandfather ‘Poppy’ to Arabella. Adored little brother to Christine, and Uncle Funky to his loved nieces and nephew. A private cremation has been held to be followed by a private memorial. Ele and Hannah thank you for the love, support and memories shared by friends, family and work families. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly received by ‘HUHANZ Animal Shelter’ and ‘Nelson Tasman Hospice’.

(formerly of Coalgate, and Greymouth) on April 19, 2023, passed peacefully at Wesley Care, surrounded by his loving family, aged 90 years. Husband of Kaye, the late Margaret and formerly Lyndsey. Much loved dad and father-in-law of Stewart and Nicki, Chris and Andrea, and Steph and Steve. Loved Pop Ross of Eryn, Sianna, Lily-Rose, McKenzie, and Skyla. Ross was a loved brother, brother-in-law, uncle , and a great Brass Band friend to many. A special thank you to the staff at Wesley Care for their wonderful care of Ross. Deary loved and devoted husband of the late Kathleen for 70 years, dearly loved father and father-in-law of Phillip and Dot, and Janice and the late Jim, loved grandad of Robert, Amy and Andrew, Jeffrey and Ali, James and Fiona, and Patricia, great-grandad of Krystal, Zoey, Lexi, and Cameron.

Grandfather and Great-Grandfather to Natasha, Keziah and Connor, Caitlin, Sean, Jonathan, Vera, Margot and Lewis, Portia (dec), Jacob, Lachlan, Sophie, Charlotte, Hazel and Corin. Brother of Gisela and Heidi (Germany). A service to celebrate his life will be held at St Mary’s Catholic Church (Hta Mere), Convent Road, Otaki, on Monday 24 April at 11.00am. A private vigil will be held at the family home prior to the service.

BROOK, Barry Lawrence

On Tuesday 19th April 2023 at Bupa Riverstone Rest Home, Palmerston North, Barry peacefully passed away in the company of his family. Barry was born in Feilding, settled in Palmerston North and was well known in the community as a local magician and a keen bagpiper. Barry was a much-loved husband to Jenny for 66 years, and dad to Debbie, David and Andrew, and grandad to Laura and Natalie, and great-grandad to Ryker. A special thank you to all the staff at Bupa Residential Care Home for the special care and love that was shown to him there. A funeral for Barry will be held in the Terracehaven Chapel, 697 Main Street, Palmerston North, on Wednesday 26th April at 1.00pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.

Passed away peacefully on March 27, 2023, at Christchurch Hospital, aged 96, surrounded by his loving family. Dearly loved husband of his sweetheart Dorothy for 63 years, loved father and father-in-law of Judith and Alister, John and Donna, and loved grandpa of Rachel, Laria and Benjamin.
