SAUNDERS, Rita Martha

On Thursday, April 20, 2023, peacefully at Essie Summers Retirement Home, aged 94 years. Loved wife of the late Allan, mother and mother-in-law of Fred and Lynda, Susan and Barry, Lorraine and Bryan, Barry, Helen and Judith. Grandmother to her 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Our grateful thanks and appreciation go to the Dementia and Hospital Wards at Essie Summers Retirement Home for looking after Rita over the past 5 years. Messages to the family of the late Rita Saunders, C/- 29 Cowes Street, Avondale, Christchurch 8061. At Rita’s request, a private family gathering is to be held.

Of The Village Palms, formerly of Doyleston. On Friday, April 21, 2023, at Christchurch Hospital. Aged 66 years. Much loved special friend of Diane, cherished second dad of Kris, and devoted second Grandad to Ellen and Riley. Father of Billie Jean and Mira, special brother of Boyso, and loved by nieces, nephews, whanau, and many muso friends.

On Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Cashmere View Hospital, aged 86 years. Loved wife of the late Arthur. Mother of Karen; Nana of Brett, Micheal, and Samantha; and great-grandmother of Kahu, Ayla, Zade, Alexis, Logan, and Ryder. Special thanks to the staff at Cashmere View Hospital for their wonderful care of Yvonne. Messages to the Milne family, c/- PO Box 10345, Christchurch 8145. For those wishing to pay their last respects to Yvonne, she will be available for viewing at Bell, Lamb & Trotter until 3.30pm today (Monday). Please phone the funeral home for an appointment. Passed away tragically in an accident on Friday, April 21, 2023, aged 49 years. Loved daughter of Gail & the late Bruce Mackenzie. Loved, cherished and irreplaceable wife of Danny. Loving mummy of Penelope, Pixie-Rose & Jordan & her beloved fur babies, Grammie of Hunter. Sister of Helen, Wesley & the late Daniel.

A celebration of Wendy’s life will be held at 12 Lucien Place, Whitikahu on Thursday, April 27, at 1.00pm. The family recommend wearing gumboots. Wendy will be laying at home from Monday, April 24, all visitors are welcome.

On Friday, April 21, 2023, after a short illness and a courageous battle, at South Canterbury Hospice with loving family at her side. Dearly loved wife of Alister. Loved mum and mother-in-law of Sharolyn and Lenard Smythe (Timaru), and Carl Rathbone and Jess Mountford (Australia). Loved step-mother of Linda and Pete Knowles, Rebecca Davis and Michael Cant. Cherished Nana of Flynn, and Lucy Smythe; River, and Bowie Rathbone; Bradley and Casey, and Callum Sim. Treasured great-grandmother of Colton, and Isla Sim. Loved sister and sister-in-law of Alan Win (deceased), David and Wendy Win, Philip and Ana Win, Stephanie McHaffie, Lorraine and David Doyle, Valerie and Murray Biggs, Brian and Gaynor Davis. Loved aunty to all her neices and nephews. Special friend of Karline, Bonnie, Fraser, Noeline and Nev, Jason and Kelly, and so many more. A service to celebrate Alma’s life will be held at Aoraki Funeral Services Chapel Waimate, 11 John Street, Waimate, on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 2.00pm, followed by a private cremation. Peacefully and unexpectedly at Christchurch Hospital, on April 19, 2023, in his 87th year. Dearly loved husband, friend and soulmate of Elaine for 70 years. Much loved dad of Greg and Sarah, Debbie and Geoff Donald, and Brendan. Dearly loved and adored ‘Ga’ of Aleisha and Carl, Jeremy, and Lily; Kylie and AB, Shannon and Kathryn, and Jayden, and a dearly loved great-grandad of his six great-grandchildren. ESCUDERO, Jose Maria

Passed away April 2, 2023, aged 89, at Hutt Hospital. Born in Palencia, Spain, he came to New Zealand in 1965 and settled in Petone. A longtime stalwart member of the Petone Bowling Club, Petone Rugby Club and Petone Working Men’s Club, and a keen gardener, he will be remembered with affection by many. At his request no funeral was held, and he was cremated privately.

Aged 80 years. Robyn passed away peacefully on Monday 17 April 2023 at North Shore Hospital after a short illness. Beloved wife of Jack (deceased). Mother of Tracey Howarth (nee Mehrtens), and Megan Mehrtens (formerly Taff). Nana of Joshua and Isabella Howarth, and Jacob and Curtis Taff. Mother-in-law of Gary.
