Hokitika has been named the most welcoming town in NZ in Booking.com's 10th annual Traveller Review Awards.
Would be keen to hear from those who live there or who have visited whether they think the town really is exceptionally friendly. What makes it a welcoming place, or otherwise? Were there any cafes, restaurants, shops or other places you received a particularly warm welcome?
Lake Tekapo and Oamaru came in second and third place respectively, followed by Cambridge, Picton, Invercargill, Martinborough, Kerikeri and Palmerston North. Would also love to hear from you if you have thoughts on these places. Please include 'NFP' (not for publication) in your comment if you don't want it to appear in a travel article.
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts?

It's the front side of your teeth that are seen when you smile. Don't forget to remove the plaque along the part of your tooth closest to the gum line.
Begin on the outside of your top teeth. Bite your teeth together. Rub the toothbrush back and forth across your teeth while gradually moving the toothbrush across your top teeth. Make sure you reach all the way back to your molars. Spit if necessary.
Use small circles to brush the braces. Spend at least 25 β 30 seconds on each bracket. You can also use your interdental brush to brush over the tops of your brackets. Most brackets have holes in them (tough to see) so try wiggling the interdental brush down into each bracket.
Brush the crowns of your teeth. Turn your toothbrush perpendicular to the spaces between your teeth. Rub the brush back and forth and also use a circular motion. This helps get the hard to reach crevices that can harbour plaque and food particles.
Brush the inner side of your teeth. Move the toothbrush back and forth, up and down and then with circular motions on the inside of your top and bottom teeth. When you have braces, the inner side of your teeth is usually the easiest to brush because they are not crowded with braces.
Now brush the outside of your bottom teeth. With your teeth still together, gently brush in circular motions. Make sure you move the toothbrush across all your front teeth and back to the outsides of your molars as well. It may be easier to reach the back of your mouth if you open your mouth a little.

As a retired driving instructor I used to own one of Auckland's well known driving schools. I am now offering parents my driving lessons experience for free with all the tips and tricks on how to pass a driving test. Most parents do a great job of coaching their children but don't have the tools to get up to test standard.
Please Note : I am no longer taking people out in a car for driving lessons but have decided to do this neighbourly gesture for mums and dads :-)

Since its inception in 1960, thousands of young people around the world have benefited from RYLA. Many have gone on to be outstanding leaders of their families, their businesses and the communities in which they live.
Delegates are sponsored either by a local Rotary Club, a local business, the business for whom they work or by private arrangements. We encourage businesses to promote their young leaders with a RYLA experience as the benefits are numerous and embrace all areas of the young personβs lives.
The varied live in week at RYLA has proved extraordinarily successful for many years. It provides an environment in which young people can develop their leadership, team work and communication skills. Many RYLA graduates have referred to the experience as βthe week that changed my lifeβ. Often the friendships made during the RYLA week develop into life time networks, benefiting the delegates in all areas of their lives.
Administered by Rotarians and facilitated by professional trainers, it targets young people aged 20-28 who may still be at university or already working. They do not need to be in a leadership role at this time.
