But the hard work's paid off. The epic project has been recognised in the 2018 Canterbury Architecture Awards, where it won a Heritage Award for its "sensitive alterations" and "seamless transitions from old to new".
Have you tackled a reno project of you own, big or small? We'd love to hear about it.

The new plan for the city's Cathedral Square will see a mix of green and paved surfaces to create a strong city heart and encourage events. Its execution is intended to be phased, rolled out in stages as building projects around the square were completed.
As suggested in a draft concept released last year, the redesigned square would have three main spaces, each with their own character β a green zone with trees and water southeast of Christ Church Cathedral, a youth-friendly meeting space by the new library, and a large event and meeting space on the western side.
Were you aware of the plans? What do you think about them? Do you like the designs? Is there anything missing?
