Christchurch mayor Phil Mauger and city councillor Sam MacDonald will host a public meeting on Tuesday evening to discuss the council’s latest annual plan, property valuations, Three Waters and housing intensification.

“Part of rebuilding trust and confidence in council is being out in the community, answering questions and understanding people’s concerns,” Mauger said.

MacDonald said the latest annual plan had been “particularly challenging”, with interest rates, inflation and insurance adding significant pressure to the council budget.

“We have worked hard to minimise the impact to below inflation,” he said.

”We are hopeful we will get a lot of people along, the issues being discussed impact everybody.”

The meeting will be held at 7pm on Tuesday at St Christopher’s Church, Avonhead Rd.

Losing two special people as a teenager left her lost and scraping by daily. But with the Foundation’s programmes; Kiwi Can, Stars and Project K, she found mentors who believed in her and taught her life skills, self-belief and the importance of asking for help.

Winning the Project K Excellence Award inspired her to work with the Foundation, which led to her becoming a Kiwi Can Leader. Jaleel hopes to continue working with the Foundation.

Separate buildings have to be 10m apart
I estimate that the angle from the bottom of the French doors to the top of the neighbouring building would be 29 degrees
The East side would get zero sun
The West side would get sun above 76 degrees (I think)
I removed the original picture as building on east side was incorrect.
Note the sun chart. Anything below 30 degrees gets no sun. So in 3 weeks the sun retreats from the dining room floor.

Submissions on the Housing Intensification Legislation.

If you wish to purchase you will want to know what could be built next door. If you own a home you would have chosen where to purchase based upon the zoning rules and would never have envisaged that zone to change. It is proposed that this is going to happen. To make a submission, and you should, go to ccc.govt.nz/haveyoursay . There is apparently information at the libraries as well. Nb, this intensification legislation is being forced upon all tier one cities in NZ by the Government and if adopted will result in far more losers than winners. One of the reasons for the legislation is to make housing more affordable, it won't, affordability is market driven. More buyers, price increases and prices decrease with less buyers as per the apartment market at present. In making a submission maybe talk to your neighbours or friends. If you wish to know what new zone you will be in there is an interactive map, most of suburban Chch is in the new zone ie Medium Density Zone. 11 meters high one meter off your Northern boundary !! Not flash is it!

Poll: Should we scrap daylight saving?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

This Sunday we'll be putting our clocks back for the end of daylight saving. Despite the benefits of an extra hour of sun during daylight saving, these clock changes commonly bring disruptions to our households and sleep - some feel that it should be scrapped altogether. What do you think?
