Our quote of the week.

NumberWorks'nWords Burnside

The easy stuff is fun and quick, it’s true. However, to expand the mind, you must push it to its limits just as you would a muscle. The hard stuff makes you think; it causes you to re-read over and over again until you understand it. Challenge yourself every so often.

Affordable living isn’t the only reason people many people say they live in Christchurch.

The city has easy access to the outdoors and recreation options including tramping, skiing, boating, hunting, fishing, and mountain biking.

Christchurch is colder than the main North Island cities during winter, but is also drier than all the other main cities, and sunnier and less windy than Wellington.

Why do you live in Christchurch? Read the full story here and tell us about your experience living in the city in the comments below.

She has lost her father suddenly to illness (passed away the other day) but her mother also had a massive stroke and now Mariska is needed urgently in Holland to bury her father, arrange care for her mother and deal with all the logistics of her parent's affairs and house etc.
I know Mariska and this need is real and genuine. Her original request for help had to be transferred from go-fund-me to give-a-little and that caused all the original donations to be refunded to the donors. She explains on her page. Please follow the link....

“I would like to nominate and THANK our great neighbour's living at Viv Davie Martin Drive for their creativity and huge effort during lock down. They lifted all our spirits with their daily Teddy bear reenactment on how to keep busy. Each day people came to see what Teddy bear was up to. With keen interest kids in our neighbourhood even gave Teddy a proper name...meet Vincent LOL! It's through times like this that such acts of goodness should be acknowledged and the memories they hold forever treasured. A selected few photos of Vincent's daily lockdown activities "thanks Vincent :)"

Woods made the comment on Twitter on Thursday evening in response to a complaint from a member of the public about Christchurch’s lack of hospital parking.

"Please be assured that we understand just how much of a problem the lack of a carpark is. I have been working on the details of a solution that's pretty much there - more to say very soon," she wrote.

Has the lack of hospital parking been a problem for you? Where do you think a new parking building or site should go?
