Oceania has always believed in better and so does The Bellevue’s Care Manager, Russell.

Since returning to the South Island five years ago, Russell has been proud to witness Christchurch’s resurgence. “Christchurch is like a phoenix risen from the ashes, with a tremendous opportunity to redefine itself.” And now he is playing his part in reimagining our city’s aged care offering.

Russell has built his team at The Bellevue with one goal in mind. “As the Care Manager I believe I have a principle responsibility to set the scene in providing an environment where staff can truly excel, feel empowered and make a positive difference to the lives of residents, families and each other.”

Another initiative Russell is proud of is that couples can stay together in the same room, even if their needs are not aligned. Russell has seen the impact it has on residents - “It is just wonderful to offer couples Care Suites which allow couples to stay together – just as they always have,” says Russell.

To find out more about our Care Suites, with Rest Home and Hospital level care, get in touch with Russell today.

Hi neighbours,

Little more than 12 months ago, motorists on Riccarton Rd finally breathed a sigh of relief after years of roadworks came to an end.

But that reprieve from endless traffic jams will be short-lived – another section of the major road is about to be dug up.

A 1.7km stretch of the street will have ageing pipes and three intersections replaced over the next nine months, and the city council expects the work will cause some delays.

Christchurch’s mobile library service will stay open for now and the city council plans to spend another $11 million on climate change initiatives, but the news is not so good for the much-loved Wharenui Pool.

The Christchurch City Council announced on Wednesday it is proposing to lease the pool to the Wharenui Swim Club, but wants to stop funding the facility once the metro sports facility opens in 2022.

The move has been slammed by swim club president Chris Averill, who said the council was walking away from its commitments to the local community and the children of Wharenui School.

A new email scam impersonating the NZTA is being sent around telling vehicle owners their licences are due.

The email directs the recipient to renew the funds through clicking a 'Renew Now' button at the bottom corner of the email. It then takes the individual to fake website that gets them to fill in personal details.

CERT NZ, the government authority responsible for cyber security said in a tweet, that anyone who receives this email should report it directly to Waka Kotahi (NZTA).

How to spot a phishing scam:
- NZTA will only send an email through if an individual has contacted them first.
- Email addresses will always end in @nzta.govt.nz, @enews.nzta.govt.nz or @reply.nzta.govt.nz.
- The email may be missing specific details that the NZTA will have on file: such as your plate number, the date your vehicle license is due and vehicle make and model.
- Hover over buttons and links to see if the pop-up will take you to a genuine government (.govt.nz) website

Neighbourly will update this message as further information comes to hand.
