The great kiwi deck, every home should have one. But there's a decking debate raging in DIY and Reno circles: Should the grooves go up or down?
We think we've settled the argument here.

Under level one restrictions, residents at odd-numbered addresses can use their hoses, sprinklers, and garden irrigation systems before 3pm or after 9pm on odd dates, with residents at even-numbered addresses doing so on even dates.
“Watering gardens and lawns using irrigation systems, hoses and sprinklers is the real challenge - washing the car using a bucket, using a watering can in the garden, or filling a small paddling pool, on any day, is fine under level one restrictions," head of three waters Helen Beaumont says.
Level two water restrictions were introduced last month in Akaroa, Duvauchelle and Takamatua on Banks Peninsula, as the streams that supply drinking water to those towns had been especially low.

Terry Hao, owner of the Muffin Break inside the interchange, said police used to be there “pretty much every day”, but the situation had been improving since the Christchurch City Council became the owner in 2019. “It's a lot safer now.”
Hao said the police often came to see if there was any trouble with kids and teenagers congregating.
A council spokesman said “alternative solutions” were being offered to people who congregate at the interchange but do not use the buses. Read more here.

Earlier this month, one of the owners of the store was working behind the counter when a man entered the store and demanded money.
He walked behind the counter to the cash register and took a large sum of money, but the owner very quickly managed to activate the anti-theft smoke canon and the offender fled the shop.
Seeing what happened, the members of the public chased the offender and caught him, holding him until Police arrived soon afterwards.
He was then arrested and taken into custody.
A 40-year-old man has been charged with theft and was due to appear in the Waitakere District Court last week.
The money taken was returned to the dairy owners (pictured on the left), who were very grateful to those who stepped in to help.
A great result and example of people going above and beyond to look out for people in their local community.
