Situated in the amazing Heritage Park, Ferrymead, secure and versatile accommodation, offering ample free parking. Very reasonably priced by Ferrymead Lions Charitable Trust.

Comprises 2 adjoining meeting rooms/office spaces (48 & 78sqm) which comfortably seat 40 people each (tables and chairs provided). These can be combined for larger functions.

There is a Board/Committee meeting room (40sqm) suitable for about 15 people.

Kitchen facilities that can cater for 40+ people (24sqm), include all utensils and tableware. Cooker, fridge, H&C water, 2 ovens. Service hatch/bar.

The building is air conditioned and has its own integral toilet facilities, including one for the disabled.

At present the rooms are furnished with tables and chairs, but other arrangements may be considered.

Single session bookings are available, but in order to reduce management commitment, we would give preference to longer term tenants.Typical rental costs:

Single sessions (morning, afternoon or evening) $35 to $45, depending on room. Kitchen and catering facilities additional $30. Typically an evening social for 30 to 40 people (sorry, no rowdies!) with bar and kitchen facilities comes in under $100.

Regular/ongoing hirings work out cheaper and start from $100 per week.

I am looking for Dads who are willing to be photographed for a gorgeous book: LOVE and dads.

The book is about love, and raising funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ. The whole session fee ($65) goes to the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ, who's vision is zero deaths from breast cancer in New Zealand.

Who can take part?
Dads with their child / children who are willing to donate the $65. The children can be adults...they can be mums or dads themselves!

What does the dad get?
A fun portrait session with Juliette Capaldi of Etta Images.
A place in the book, LOVE and dads.
The satisfaction of helping NZ to move towards zero deaths from breast cancer.

What else do I need to know?
The sessions are fun and don't take long.
Sessions take place in Christchurch (Central, South and East).
Prints for yourself are optional, at my usual print prices.
The children of the dad can be adults also.
We can photograph extra people at the session too if you would like.

The goal is 100 dads, to raise $6500. Already 49 dads have signed up. Now I just need another 51!

Please let me know if you have any questions at all.

Thanks, Juliette

The Resene Upcycling Awards are coming back this month, the third year in a row! Watch this space and get prepared for the announcement; there are great prizes up for grabs.

Upcycling is the term used for taking a preloved item and transforming it - whether it's for a new purpose altogether, or just to give it an ‘extreme makeover'. Consider using the school holidays to get Upcycling with the smaller members of your household - or use the next rainy day to drag out the paint and your creativity!

In the meantime, check out some of the creative cookies from last year.

This issue is packed with good reads and amazing offers from our friends and partners. We take a close look at urban farmer Freeman Farms, and visit an Auckland coastal garden that the owner waited three long decades to create as well as a Dunedin garden where they’ve grown flowers for nearly 50 years. We're still on the hunt for our Houseplant Hero, thanks to our friends at Yates and Kings Plant Barn. Nominations are now open for our 2020 Ryman Healthcare Gardener of the Year too! There’s a feature on walnut growers in NZ, highlights of new roses coming out this year and of course, details on how to get yourself $20 worth of free bulbs from NZ Bulbs.
