Entries are now open for Stuff Travel's first video competition.

"We want to see videos that inspire others to travel, be it to a destination in New Zealand or anywhere in the world. We're looking for content that informs, entertains, and is creatively shot," says judge and Stuff travel journalist and videographer Brook Sabin.

Concerns over safety and public access has prompted the Christchurch City Council to close a beach car park popular with freedom campers during weekends.

The North Beach car park, which services both the surf lifesaving club and the North New Brighton community centre on Marine Pde in North New Brighton, will be off limits to freedom campers from 7pm on Fridays until Monday morning.

The closure will apply from this weekend until Easter Sunday and again from Labour Weekend until New Year's Eve to coincide with the surf lifesaving season.

Where other parts of the Christchurch residential red zone have been maintained and used for recreation, the Horseshoe Lake walkway has deteriorated so much since the Canterbury earthquakes people can no longer access it.

Our theme this year is the"Japanese Winter" and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. We will have our usual delicious food stalls, prominent business stalls and entertaining experiences for all.

We have an entertaining line up on our indoor and outdoor stages in addition to cultural experiences such as the Japanese Tea Ceremony and Calligraphy. With an Olympic area, Sapporo Beer Garden, Drift car display and performances by the Japanese Drumming Group Takumi, there will be something for everyone at this event!
