She knows what she's talking about, too. Not only did she smash more than $90k of debt in three years, but in the year since she paid it off, she's saved enough, on top of her Kiwisaver, to pay the deposit on a home of her own.

With the event attracting racegoers around Aotearoa, officials agree that this race has a positive impact on the local economy. On the other side, animal rights activists SAFE states that using horses for sport puts immense pressure on a horse's anatomy and that the sport should not be continued.

Christchurch City Council is embarking on a lengthy process to figure out how its low-lying coastal and inland communities will adapt to the ramifications of climate change.
Sea levels around the country are projected to rise by about 37 centimetres within 30 years and just over a metre by 2100.
The solutions for each community are likely to be different so the council has split areas into seven different groupings covering 23 communities, and is tackling each grouping separately.
The first communities to undergo planning will be Charteris Bay, Teddington, Allandale and Governors Bay in Lyttelton Harbour, which will happen over the next 18 months to three years.
The council expects it will take at least 10 years to complete adaptation plans for all the city’s coastal areas from Brooklands through to Sumner and across Banks Peninsula.

In Banks Peninsula 51 per cent of voters backed cannabis legalisation, while in Christchurch Central and Christchurch East it was 54 per cent.
The preliminary results of the cannabis referendum, released on Friday October 30, showed 53.1 per cent of voters said “no” to a question of whether the Government should legislate to legalise recreational cannabis.
In the suburbs of Ilam and Wigram, 53 per cent and 51 per cent voted no.
In the mid-Canterbury electorates there was a more resounding response, with Selwyn (58.9 per cent) and Waimakariri (58.3 per cent) voting no.
Christchurch Central’s 54 per cent backing of cannabis reform contrasts with Wellington Central, where 72 per cent voted yes.
And in Auckland Central – where Green Party drug reform spokeswoman Chloe Swarbrick is the MP – 67 per cent of people voted yes.

The council is proposing to replace or cover structures along the estuary edge in Southshore to reduce erosion risk. They say this approach has community support, and would also significantly improve the appearance of the estuary edge.
To reduce the risk of flooding in Southshore, council recommend the construction of an 11.4 RL bund close to the current Land Information New Zealand bund.
In South New Brighton, council proposes restoring the estuary edge with a cobble beach.
To reduce the flooding risk, council recommends a new bund be set up to 100 metres from the estuary edge within South New Brighton park, between the jetty near Beatty St and the southern end of the campground in Halsey St.
These options are in response to several council resolutions from August last year regarding earthquake legacy issues.
The proposed options to address erosion and flooding risk are forecast to cost about $12.5 million. The draft 2021-31 long term plan allows for $10.5m.
