This carbon buildup can occur over time as a result of incomplete combustion and the recirculation of exhaust gases in vehicles equipped with direct fuel injection systems.
If you notice symptoms such as rough idle, poor acceleration, decreased fuel efficiency, or a noticeable decrease in engine performance, it might be an indication that carbon buildup has become a problem in your vehicle's engine. However, not all vehicles will require a walnut blast, as modern engine designs and fuel additives can help mitigate carbon buildup to some extent.
It's important to consult your vehicle's owner's manual and follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule. Some manufacturers might suggest performing a walnut blast at certain mileage intervals or when specific symptoms arise. If you're unsure about whether your car needs a walnut blast, it's a good idea to consult a qualified mechanic who can assess your vehicle's condition and recommend appropriate maintenance procedures.
At Matipo Garage, located in Addington, we have the expertise to help you decide if your vehicle requires a Walnut Blast and the experience to perform it. Contact us on 03 348 5358 or Email us to discuss admin@matipogarage.co.nz

The Christchurch City Council will on Wednesday consider Mauger’s plan to temporarily close one lane of traffic on part of Hagley Ave and Riccarton Ave. It will also make the final decision on whether to keep a temporary cycleway on Park Tce, which Mauger has heavily criticised in the past.
At the hospital he was proposing the council trial the lane closure for up to 10 days before making a final decision. Such a test was not done with Park Tce, he said. In a mayor’s report to the council, Mauger said the 10-day trial would allow time to assess options for increasing on-street car parking.

Communities at both ends of the tunnel are celebrating its centenary on Friday.
The rail tunnel travels 8.5km through the Southern Alps and was once the seventh longest tunnel in the world, and the longest in the British Empire.
Although the rail tunnel is now only the third longest in the country, it remains an engineering marvel.
During its construction, tunnellers contended with harsh conditions, using basic tools to drive through wet shale and rock, and with the steep track required from Ōtira to Arthur’s Pass.
A committee of Ōtira residents was set up two years ago to organise a celebration to commemorate 100 years since the tunnel opened on August 4, 1923.

Dimensions are 13cmX13cmX9.5cm (approx). Each box is constructed then placed in an oven at 140deg C for one hour and then left to cool. The box is then taken apart and trimmed to minimise the gaps that occur during the seasoning process before being re-assembled and oiled using several applications of rice bran oil. So the box is ready to line with baking paper and slow bake your favourite cake. You must remember to always line your cake box with either baking paper or brown paper. Simply brush any crumbs or spills out after each use and never wash your cake box by immersing it in water. These boxes are designed for slow and low baking at temperatures of 150C or lower and they should not be used on the stovetop or in the microwave. Re-apply rice bran oil when the wood starts to look dry.

With online being the main mode of communication these days, it's no wonder that there has been a worldwide mail decline and here in Aotearoa, NZ Post has needed to lay off 750 full-time staff. Do you think it's time to say goodbye to the trusty letterbox?
