Three of Christchurch's leading mayoral hopefuls will face-off in a public debate in the city centre.

Lianne Dalziel, John Minto and Darryll Park will lock horns at a forum hosted by the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce at The Piano.

Dalziel, Minto and Park were invited to take part after polling indicated they are leading the 13-strong field of mayoral contenders.

The forum is supported by The Press and the MC will be broadcast journalist Sacha McNeil.

The September 4 forum runs from 5pm to 7.30pm.

It is open to the public and free but registration is essential. Email registration@cecc.org.nz or by phone at 03 366 5096.

Last year, a company owned by Richard and Wendy Gibbons and their son, Marc, applied to open Bottle-O Halswell at the new Oaks Centre in Ensign St.

A new bottle store in the Christchurch suburb of Halswell has been approved despite the outcry of many locals.

Last year, a company owned by Richard and Wendy Gibbons and their son, Marc, applied to open Bottle-O Halswell at the new Oaks Centre in Ensign St.

The application drew 37 objectors including the Halswell Residents' Association, Southwest Baptist Church, Oaklands School's principal, and Lighthouse Preschool.

The Alcohol District Licensing Authority dismissed the appeal after a three-day hearing in July.
