She was one of nearly 100 eager customers who donned taco shell hats and T-shirts outside the Taco Bell Eastgate store in Linwood, Christchurch – the South Island’s first – as they waited for the big purple bell to be rung and ribbon to be cut.

Recovery from Feeling Depressed
Does the way you eat make you feel depressed or low? Has life stopped feeling good and lost its meaning? Don’t know how to stop stress eating? Does your eating cause you to feel listless or numbed out? Does your relationship with food make you feel isolated from family, friends and loved ones? Find out how AEA members have used the Twelve Step programme to overcome the low feelings associated with addictive eating and go on to live joyful, positive lives.

These are the stories of how some of our members came to find a solution to their food related depression in Addictive Eaters Anonymous. This way of life is available to you, too. We suggest you read these stories of eating disorder recovery with an open mind. Focus on the similarities, rather than the differences. Whatever your problem with food, AEA can help.

The tram ride to New Brighton was an institution in Christchurch for many decades.
Passengers rattled along the rails to Saturday shopping and summer picnics on the beach.

This changed in October, 1952. Out went trams, in came buses.

Christchurch mayor Robert Macfarlane drove the last rumbling old tram, festooned with banners and bunting. It towed a double-decker trailer, from the top of which the Caledonian Pipe Band played a lament.

In its wake came three of the Christchurch Transport Board's new AEC diesel buses. The band later piped the buses into New Brighton.

Oceania has always believed in better and so does The Bellevue’s Care Manager, Russell.

Since returning to the South Island five years ago, Russell has been proud to witness Christchurch’s resurgence. “Christchurch is like a phoenix risen from the ashes, with a tremendous opportunity to redefine itself.” And now he is playing his part in reimagining our city’s aged care offering.

Russell has built his team at The Bellevue with one goal in mind. “As the Care Manager I believe I have a principle responsibility to set the scene in providing an environment where staff can truly excel, feel empowered and make a positive difference to the lives of residents, families and each other.”

Another initiative Russell is proud of is that couples can stay together in the same room, even if their needs are not aligned. Russell has seen the impact it has on residents - “It is just wonderful to offer couples Care Suites which allow couples to stay together – just as they always have,” says Russell.

To find out more about our Care Suites, with Rest Home and Hospital level care, get in touch with Russell today.
